Yvon Michel, promoter of Artur Beterbiev (9-0, 9KOs), has revealed that the International Boxing Federation has ordered his boxer to face living legend Bernard Hopkins (55-7-2, 32 KOs) in an IBF light heavyweight eliminator.

Hopkins, 50-years-old, was last seen in the ring on November 8th when he lost a twelve round unanimous decision to current IBF/WBO/WBA champion Sergey Kovalev.

Hopkins might say no and head to 168 for Arthur Abraham. Hopkins really should think about retiring though.

I heard that Hopkins was thinking about going down to 168.

Either way, he can do what he likes.

50yo legends do not need to worry about a title eliminator.

IBF is full of it. How can B-hop be ranked 3rd after losing in November and not having a win or even a fight since then.

              kovalev vs beterbiev
              hopkins vs abraham

maybe MAYBE if Hopkins wins they could meet Biev for Hopkins final fight

but there's no need for Hopkins to take 2 opponents as brutal as kov and biev back to back without seeing if he's still got it, the Kovalev fight had to be hard on his mind and body

I can see Hopkins getting pulverised if he faces beterbiev.....far to strong and dangerous and I think the IBF need to correct themselves if this fight was to happen.....this is how fighters get damaged in the end......Hopkins should walk away......all we are seeing is shot fighters at the moment...Mosley ....malagnaggi....Judah ....mora......Molina ....Hopkins will bring nothing to the table anymore

This fight shouldn't happen now at all, it a very high risk very low reward type of fight for Hopkins, Hopkins should either fight for a huge payday or just retire, it's better to take 1 punch too less than 1 punch too many, Betriebev should build his way up the ladder and not take any shortcuts.

better style match up than kovalev...bc beterbiev is more planted in stead of happy footed...beterbiev does use his knees and leverage to avoid some shots and he's a dawgon good counterpuncher with stiff shots...

hopkins might give him trouble but i surely have to go with the constant pressure that beterbiev can keep on ..if beterbiev doesnt use the kovalev like style to undo hopkins wat is he doin in the sport..
if u try to pace and box with hopkins u will lose until he is 60
