Huck would be the first ever major boxer in his prime to try mma. Unfortunately UFC's LHW division is loaded. Cormier, Gustafson, Johnson, and eventually Jones are high level. Johnson/Huck would be a stand-up slug fest, the other guys would look to get Huck on the ground and likely choke him out.

If he feels like making less money then he can do it, otherwise I don't see this happening.

We're not going to see boxing champs in their primes switching sports unless the pay is equal or better and right now it just isn't. That's why the only guys we've seen are washed up or lower level guys that never became anything.

UFC pays peanuts to most of it's fighters. Huck makes more than anyone not named Jones, Rousey or McGregor.

What's your point. Neither were pro boxers switching to MMA.

The transition can definitely work If you work on some ground game and stopping people from wrassling you down onto the ground...
If you can keep it standing and you're as good as Huck then you can bet on him beating a lot of good names.

That would be a big mistake for Huck. The UFC has all the hittas. I suggest he stick to boxing.

Yeah he's not as nearly talented as Gary Spikes O'Sullivan.

you guys are acting like he would just jump to MMA and walk in wearing 10 ouncers and boxing shoes

it's obviously a far off thing he would spend a while training grappling for

I think it's actually harder for a boxer to shake the bad habits of boxing footwork (anyone whos seen a slick boxer spar with a kickboxer knows how hilariously inept boxing footwork becomes) and adapt to kickboxing than it is for a boxer to learn grappling defense

And Huck used to be a fairly high level kickboxer.. so really he would just need to spend a year with a bunch of wrestlers

however that reebok deal really took a dump on UFC fighter income, it actually wasn't bad AT ALL before (even if the UFC wasn't paying 2nd tier fighters much, sponsors were buying them maseratis and cutting the bonus checks every time they won)

Now it's like a $3,000 reebok check and you aren't allowed to have personal sponsors... The # of crossover athletes chasing those big sponsorship deals in MMA drops to zero. If Huck wanted a piece of the action I doubt he will once he sees the latest figures. We're talking 90% income drops.

Every time the UFC takes over it does some ****** **** like this and opens the way for a new competitor

If he can get $100k-$150k guaranteed ie none of that show + win bonus deal type bs for unknowns, fight in Germany with maybe a cut of the PPV $ + fight some limited standup guys it don't seem like it'd be a bad side gig. Huck isn't the most active guy in the world so seems like he gots some time to do both if he choose to.
