90% of boxing fights period are "meaningless" in terms of belts, titles, etc. Were Canelo-Kirkland and GGG- Monroe "meaningful"?

It wasn't a loan, a large private equity/hedge fund put up the cash

He has made some good match-ups but there hasn't been a great fight yet. Jacobs-Mora could have been it but for the injury. Broner-Porter SHOULD have been it but morons in Broner's team convinced him to clinch for his life, which is totally opposite to what he is as a fighter.

Haymon can't match all his marquee fighters too tough because if they lose, he's screwed. But he needs to stop giving free rides to fighters like Quillin, Adonis, and Danny Garcia too. It's softening them up and giving them bad press too.

And it really is time to stop wheeling out the Malignaggis and Collazos. Those fights are just depressing.
Yeah that's the thing there really is no reason to babysit these guys like Quillin and Stevenson who are never going to be big stars anyway, since he has the PBC thing going it's alright to make tough good fights consistently he has the roster, the network dates, etc. Nothing holding him back.

They obviously want a return on investment so pbc needs advertisers to feel confident and stay with them.

Canelo had fought Trout,Mayweather,Angulo,Lara..then Kirkland who was like 32-1.. So stop acting like he's rod fking Salka will ya.
When Quillen,Jacobs,Cotto, lee, or whoever else wanna grow some balls and fight GGG I'm sure he'll sign the contract. Took them a week to get a champion in Lemieux in there. At least he has a sack.

UfC consistently has the #1 vs #2 fight each other at least. They don't do #1 vs #70 from the division below haha...

That's the fault of the sanctioning bodies. If you look at other professional sports, most matches would be meaningless if there was no sense of progress; the results have meaning because they're awarded points which can move them up a table, or they determine whether or not they stay in the competition.

In boxing a fighter's ranking is worth next to shit so the only relevant matches are between big name fighters or title matches. If they had a tournament system in place, the results would matter more: The Super Middleweight tournament is proof of that. If they had a system in place where the number one ranked contender would get a title shot, people would give more consideration to a fighter trying to move up the rankings.

Wtf are you talking about? All I see is names vs bums. Or prospects vs bums.. With the occasional 2 names against each other. Nobody cried when Thurman -Guerrero got made. Or porter-Broner, except for the weight thing.

But Canelo-Kirkland was "meaningless" according to the thread as it had no real title implications
