Comments Thread For: Hearn: For Campbell There is Mitchell, Crolla, Burns

Luke Campbell won the battle of the Hull lightweights with a 10th-round stoppage of the brave Tommy Coyle in an electrifying encounter at the KC Lightstream Stadium.

The London 2012 gold medallist knocked down his former sparring partner and friend in the second round with a brutal body shot, but Coyle not only survived the round he kept coming forward in their fight which doubled as a WBC lightweight eliminator.

It was a trait the game 25-year-old continued to adopt but he was continually beaten to the punch and another body shot in the 10th proved to be the beginning of the end, with Campbell knocking his opponent down twice more before the referee ended the contest with Coyle reeling in the corner. crolla wont fight him he and gallagher wouldnt fancy it, bit hard on burns to make him fight him at his stage, mitchell would surely lose, mathews would probably be up for it, flanagan doubt it with warren involved.

Of course they would bring Burns back down to 135.

There is a lot of good domestic fights at 135. If they are going to start moving him through the better British fighters in the division then there are some good fights there : Matthews, Cardle, Crolla, Mitchell, Flanagan, Burns.

Campbell is skilled and going onto good things.. but a few of those fights will push him.

Isn't Campbell the WBC no. 1 contender now? Why fight these guys when he can go for the belt after a couple of decent tune ups and then unify with Crolla or defend against Burns/Mitchell in fights that actually mean something.

Burns next makes sense if Hearn wants to keep him on the fast track, would be a classic crossroads fight and sell well in the UK.
