It's pure added mass, and that's really what the controversy is all about. Sure I'm not pointing fingers at Trinidad like I have in the past....but I'm just letting some people know exactly where the claims stem from.

If you continuously wrap your hands in gauze over and over, then circle tape around your knuckles....Your hand becomes a sledgehammer.

"That’s pretty much right. The gauze has nothing to do with it, like I said the gauze is basically there to protect the fighters. Some fighters don’t like too much gauze, they like to feel they can almost feel their hands when they hit a person. Some fighters are like that, they don’t care about gauze. Gauze is to protect the hands, the only thing that changes anything is the amount of tape that you use, that may help the impact a little bit but at the same time, you are only protecting the fighters hands, it doesn’t make you a better puncher." - Jeff Mayweather

If I remember right the problem with Trinidad's wrap was that he had gauze then tape, then more gauze and more tape, creating two layers, which according to Foreman made his wrap hard as a cast.

no guys, they said he had put tape on the knuckles. The rules say that the tape has to be an inch behind the knuckles and not directly on them.

ahahaha I just noticed that this smile looks like tito when he came out to fight hopkins

the thing under his hand wraps could be a knuckle guard.

I don't think they allow those in pro fights though! I'm not sure!

So I guess this was who the Mexican fans argued with before the Pinoy fans came along.

you think they would have caught him doing something shady by his last fight...I doubt he cheated by making his gloves heavier...I mean look at the Trinidad v Mayorga fight...Mayorga let him give him 2 free shots and he couldn't down him. If he would have had something in those gloves or made them heavier, Mayorga would have hit the canvas in one hit!

Most PR boxers are mixed with black because at least 85% of the population of Puerto Rico is of mixed descent.

Besides, Carlos Ortiz, Alex Sanchez, Wilfredo Gomez, Daniel Santos, and John Ruiz have very little or no black in them
