It'd be good for Kovalev to take Beterbiev out now instead of letting him get more experience while Stevenson only gets older.

If I was Yvon then I'd let Beterbeiv have 3 more fights before going in against someone as good and experienced as Kovalev. Let him fight some of the top 10 guys outside of Stevenson and Kovalev, maybe someone who can take a punch and throw back, like Fonfara for example.

Edit: What confuses me is that HBO have said, according to Duva, that they will work with Haymon for Beterbiev but that was the stumbling block for the Stevenson/Kovalev purse bids. Get your story straight Duva.

Fonfara would be a great fight for Beterbiev.

Too early for Beterbiev. It is smart to gun for him before he develops, but would rather see Beterbiev go after some of the other guys. Still, would be a great fight.

I can't believe they would make this fight right now

It's actually a massive risk for Kovalev too. Beterbiev is a BEAST. If he loses to Kovalev this early, few would blame him. But Kovalev is hitting his financial prime, losing to an unknown monster would be huge at this point.

Also, **** Stevenson. Bum after bum when he could fight Beterbiev tomorrow

Beterbiev is on the verge of becoming a mandatory challenger anyway. He's just behind Mohammedi in the IBF rankings, and it's pretty obvious Duva is trying to avoid another purse bid scenario.
