Comments Thread For: Nicholas Walters To Remain in Featherweight Division

The last we saw of Nicholas Walters, he was losing his WBA featherweight belt on the scales before his scheduled title defense versus Miguel Marriaga. On the night of June 13th at the Theater of Madison Square Garden in New York, 'the Axe Man' won a twelve round verdict over Marriaga but could no longer call himself a world champion.

Great news but can he really remain at featherweight? I hope he doesn't pull a "Chavez" again because I'd love to see Lomachenko vs Walters.

Lomachenko will duck with his dear life.

      "He's too big."
"He has no belt but we'll consider Vetyeka even tho he has no belt either."

He had a long layoff, and the flu and barely missed weight. Lets give the guy the benefit of the doubt. With that said Loma is going to avoid him like the plague I believe. Citing that hes too big, they dont trust he would make weight, and that hes not a champion. They are the two best fighters in the division

Isn't that a legitimate and fair gripe since he did miss the weight last time?

Walters should win his old belt back and prove he can make 126. At least then Lomachenko can fight for the vacant belt if he were to miss weight for their fight.

Loma fight will only happen if Walters agree to an extension on top rank contract or atleast options on his next couple fights

If Walters makes 126 next, then Loma vs Walters is a go. It's a must.

Both are big dudes at 126 so it's a good match up

Cool, he should win a title ASAP and then we can see Loma school his crude ass.

Always good to self-correct and see if he can make adjustments to make weight. Having said that, he looks way to big for 126.
