Fortunately or unfortunately this is an asses in seats business thus A side "bull****" is always in play.

This isn't the NFL or NBA. Its a free market to maximize your income each time you fight & unlike most sports to even maximize your chances to win. There isn't much perceived value in a "Professional Boxing" card being shown at a venue, but there is a *****ton of perceived value in a Mayweather, Pacquiao, Cotto & Canelo fight being shown & it'd be silly not to take advantage of that if you happen to be a fighter capable of generating appeal. It'd be like you're the best or most popular chef in town, but you accept a job with McDonald's flipping quarter pounders instead of getting a job as the head chef at the local fancy restaurant.

Personally I'd prefer if boxing had more of a UFC feel to it with an elite base of top talent where boxers had less say in opponent selection & random things like venue, gloves, ring size, weight, etc., but the way the sport is right now this is how it works & it'd be ****** for boxers to not take advantage of every advantage.
