Comments Thread For: Malignaggi Feels His Style 'Is Kryptonite' To Garcia

Paulie Malignaggi remembers how much fresher he felt when the former junior welterweight champion moved up to welterweight late in 2010.

The Brooklyn native figures Danny Garcia is experiencing the same rejuvenation as he prepares for his welterweight debut Saturday night against Malignaggi at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center. The 34-year-old Malignaggi (33-6, 7 KOs) just doesn’t think the additional energy and strength Garcia gets from advancing to 147 pounds will be enough to help Garcia (30-0, 17 KOs) beat him in their 12-round main event (ESPN; 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT).

Based on Garcia's 2 controversial wins against "boxers", Paulie may be another problem fighter for Garcia. We'll have to see how well he adapts and what his gameplan is.

Will he decide to try and just go out there and bomb away at Paulie taking in to account Paulie's lack of power and feeling he could duplicate what Porter did? Or will he try box with Paulie whose greatest asset is boxing with a lot of movement due to his pack of power?

I think it's a bad matchup style wise for Garcia. Paulie won't let him sit there and get chances at landing bombs, and Garcia will be in trouble if he can't catch Paulie whose constantly on the move.

Shot? He's never been in crazy wars. If shot, you mean out of shape perhaps? But Garcia isn't the fastest type fighter out there to jump on an opponent. All Paulie got to do is stay moving and he can cause trouble to Garcia, but we'll see.

I never really looked at Paulie as a shot fighter other than he doesn't move as much as before due to age perhaps.

I think a lot of you guys are over looking just how drained Garcia was.For his last three fights he said he had to go three to four days without eating just to be able to make weight and afterwards his stomach would be so shrunk that he couldn't really eat.Taking all of that into account he still edged both of those guys who are much better than Paulie.

Paulie can certainly outbox him so long as he can avoid Garcia's " No look hail mary left hook"

Paulies biggest problem is that he wont have anything to keep Danny off of him. Paulies punches are like mosquito bites.

I think Paulie, even this version, is going to give Garcia problems. It's not as if Garcia is some relentless pressure fighter that is going to storm through Malignaggi's punches to beat him down, ala Porter.

If Paulie can still move, he'll give Garcia some issues.

..............seriously this is a gift payout for Paulie, in his prime he couldn't break a broken egg!
His biggest win in the past 5 yrs is against a shot Judah, every time he stepped up he got beat! He was never a great boxer he was and is a runner and he'll have track shoes on the 1st of Aug.

The real "Magic Man" is Marlon Starling not lil' Paulie Maggy.

                  Ray.

You couldn't even beat Broner with your "style", which is a poor man's Herrera, at best, but not really even. Paulie has no style, despite how hard he tries. A jabbing, brawler who is shot.
