Would GGG and Kovalev be better off if they were managed by Haymon?

Yep but can't he see that's not working, I mean most of the guys he has protected have grown more irrelevant. The best example in my opinion is Santa Cruz, I first saw him fight in public television when Oscar tried the free tv thing. I became interested in the guy, even saw him live at the Alamadome (although he wasn't the reason I was there, Maidana vs Broner was, but he was an added incentive) fighting Ceda who to this day is probably his best opponent, and while he didn't steamroll him, it was a decent showing for a step up fight. But after that he has fought nothing but bums, and I honestly could care less about him, all those wins haven't done anything for him and he hasn't even looked impressive against those guys which makes it worse.

I think both of them are fine with K2 Promotions and Main Events respectively.

Golovkin has generated some incredible exposure recently on HBO, I'd argue he's the hottest upcoming commodity in boxing. Admittedly he's struggled to make significant fights until now, but he's ready to cash out and start his PPV run. Lemieux is a great start.

Kovalev is ready for a PPV date. Main Events played their part in landing a huge fight Bernard Hopkins, and we're now looking at a homecoming fight in Russia. Kovalev is the premier Light Heavyweight today, he's in a great position and despite the frustrations of agreeing with Stevenson and Beterbiev, patience will win out.

They're both doing great. You can maybe argue Kovalev would have benefited from fighting within Haymon's stable, but whether he'd be in his position with Haymon today is questionable, we're yet to see Haymon really blood a true star, and those that are close (Wilder, Thurman, Broner) have stalled their momentum recently.

They would definitely make more money. I dont think he can do anything else for Kov, why? because he is getting the competition he wants under Duva and he is getting the exposure he wants probably for less money doe.

On GGG side he would probably get him tougher fights but to be honest GGG is getting the hype he wants for a less than impressive resume which tells me that his Team are doing a great job for him too.

consider kovalev's career since stevenson signed with haymon and then consider stevenson's. it's obvious who made the right career move

This is all going to bite Santa Cruz in the butt, he hasnt progressed any in his career. Fighting Mares does nothing to build his knowledge as a boxer. He needs to be more well rounded, the winner of Mares vs Santa Cruz is going to look lost and dumb when theyre thrown to Russell Jr. But regardless I dont think Haymon wouldve babied GGG or Kovalev, I think he wouldve protected certain fighters (his favorites) from them...

In some ways yes and in some ways no.

I think reputation wise being on HBO benefits both because HBO is still perceived as the network where the best fighters fight. You can't replicate their history and reputation overnight.

They also would not be subjected to the "Haymon bias" fans have, so they would likely be less popular if they were with Haymon. they surely wouldn't have as many fans on NSB that they do now.

Financially, they would make more with Haymon.

Short term, there is better exposure on HBO. Long term, if PBC takes off then obviously primetime on CBS or NBC would garner more exposure.

Fight wise GGG would have fought better opponents while Kov may not have had the fights with Bhop or Pascal. Maybe Haymon may have put kov/stevesnon on the Floyd/many undercard like he did Danny/Matts.

If you are a solid fighter, going with haymon is probably a great move.

If you can be a star, being away from haymon is the best move for you...as of now.

Kovalev definitely wouldn't. Haymon wouldn't have taken the risk with Hopkins, and would not have put him in with Pascal to follow. Kovalev would probably be in the same situation Thurman is, waiting around beating lesser contenders.

Now Golovkin, I think Haymon helps, but we also don't know if being with Haymon hurts or helps the chances of a Cotto or Alvarez fight. At least Golovkin would have gotten to slaughter Quillin and Jacobs already, and probably be signed to fight Lara five months ago.
