Maybe you forgot, but prior to all this purse bid nonsense, the fight between Kov and Stevenson was pretty much a done deal until Haymon stepped in and killed the fight.

Kovalev is contracted to HBO. Had it went to purse bid and Haymon won the rights for the fight, was he going to air this on HBO? No. This is why Kathy Duva didnt even bother to enter into a purse bid. She didnt have the funds to go up against Haymon and his investors and there was no way Kov could have fought on Showtime.

Kov's HBO contract is subject to the rules and regulations of the organization. in other words, the results of the purse bid supersede his HBO contract. Hes fully capable of fighting off HBO if he lost the purse bid. Duva is just choosing HBO over her client's best interests for this fight.

Yes, that was 2014. Haymon, as Rick Reeno reported on NSB, didn't kill the fight. By signing Adonis he killed the fight on HBO. Any fight should go to the highest bidder.

In 2015, this wasn't the case. Go into the history section if 2014 is what you want to talk about.

Kov was not signed to HBO when he pulled out of the purse bid. Kathy knew the financial situation when she asked for the bid and when she pulled out.

You know this Deveel916, so lets discuss facts and not opinions in 2015.

I believe her choosing HBO is keeping her clients best interest in mind as HBO was the network who has invested and built Kovalev to the attraction he is today.

Look at what's happened to Stevenson's career once he signed with Haymon. All the momentum he had built fighting on HBO hit a brick wall and fell off a cliff. He's been fighting nobody's ever since with dismal viewership #'s. The only time his name is even brought up now is when Kov calls him a "Piece of shiet" on national tv. LOL.

Nothing I can remember tops Garcia vs. Salka. People still underrate just how horrible a cherry pick that was. All the time people try to compare other fights to it and no, none of them are even close. Danny Garcia, the super lightweight champion, fought a guy ranked in the 70s in the division below. I imagine it went the same way Apollo chose Rocky, they were looking through the local lists for a good nickname.

I picked Garcia-salka. But all those fights on the list are pretty bad matchups for a promoter(Haymon) who's trying to get boxing back into the publics mind.

I just read that they are making Quillen vs 3x knocked out 39 year old Tony Jeter.
