  • Comments Thread For: De La Hoya: Cotto-Canelo Could Be Finalized This Week

Golden Boy Promotions President Oscar De La Hoya says announcement is coming very soon for the fall mega-clash between WBC middleweight champion Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico and Mexican superstar Saul "Canelo" Alvarez.

The Cotto vs. Canelo fight is reportedly heading to the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on November 21 and on HBO Pay-Per-View.

De La Hoya would not confirm the venue, but admitted the Mandalay Bay was in the running and he views it as a great place to host such a fight. The Mandalay Bay hosted De La Hoya's fight with Felix 'Tito' Trinidad.

Money, putting it in a stadium tickets dumb cheap maximizes profits in smaller venues with the prestige of hosting big fights

They better make this **** happen bro. But if not, I'll add the cost of that PPV to my budget for seats to GGG-Lemieux

This sounds pretty positive to me. Had been a little worried with how long this has been dragging out and how recently there were some reports about them not being able to settle on a venue, but Oscar sounds confident here. Man, this is going to be one awesome fight. Put it together with Golovkin/Lemieux and Klitschko/Fury, and that is going to be one hell of a stretch to end the year.
