Toney - 50/50 in my mind, I would favour Golovkins work rate, body attack and smart pressure to outwork Toney over the distance again!

Jones - at 160 it's hard to bet against Roy, the guy was ridiculous in the 90's, but with GGGs power you never know! Golovkin clearly has the better chin, and roy ducked a hell of a lot of guys at 160/168 still Roy by unanimous decision

Hopkins - I don't think B-Hop was at his best in the early to mid 90s, he was sort of learning on the job with his late start in boxing! Golovkin beats him by unanimous decision

Kalambay - I like kalambay, good choice and very underrated! But unfortunately I think Golovkin takes him out quicker than "second to nunn"
So you have him beating 3 out of these accomplished fighters, most of them also HOF member, one of them is 50-50 and you only pick Roy to beat him even that just hardly?
Damn... the hype is unreal! Based on these comments you gotta think that we are talking bout some proved, HOF member but actually we are talking abut a guy who's 33 years old already without asingle elite opponent and his best win is Martin Murray.
HBO knows his thing, that's for sure.

Martinez couldn't even dominate Matthew Macklin when they fought.

...and he honestly should have lost vs. Murray.

You really think he could beat GGG at 37-years of age? There's just no way.

The Early 90's was a ridiculous time for the middleweight division, talent wise. I watched a youtube video and a guy brought up Ring's top ten middleweights from 1990. This is a seriously stacked top 10 and it does'nt even include Toney, B-Hop, Roy or Gerald McClellan.

          1. Michael Nunn
          2. Julian Jackson
          3. Sumbu Kalambay
          4. Mike McCallum
          5. Steve Collins
          6. Chris Eubank
          7. Roberto Duran
          8. Michael Watson
          9. Nigel Benn
          10.Reggie Johnson

Golovkin vs. the Martinez/Chavez Jr version of Sergio would have been interesting. I think there's a decent chance Golovkin takes him out. No way the Murray version of Sergio goes 12.

              He wouldn't be a top 5 fighter.

I think a prime McCallum would be a tough outing for just about every MW in history.

Yeah the 35-year-old version of Martinez that viciously KO'd Paul Williams and schooled Kelly Pavlik could perhaps dominate Golovkin.

                  Macklin/Murray Martinez... naw...

McCallum was a monster for sure considering a past prime version of him gave prime James Toney all he could handle on two occasions. Hell it could be argued that most of McCallum's run at middleweight was past prime. Which makes his career even more impressive imo.

Prime Roy is as close to untouchable I think I will ever get in my lifetime. I think Hopkins might even be able to give GGG a run for his money now, so I'd have to pick both of them over GGG. Toney I'd make favourite but we are talking about some of the greatest fighters of all time.

Lets Golovkin beat a few more fighters and then we can really gauge him.
