These two fights share a number of similarities. Both have somewhat controversial decisions (Pascal/Gonzalez being more controversial) that went to the favored fighter, but there's more in common than that.
Both fights featured an aggressive pursuer chasing down a more elusive man. However in the case of Garcia/Peterson the aggressor won, not so in Pascal/Gonzalez. The early rounds played out very similarly, except Pascal engaged more than Peterson did. Still Gonzalez landed more shots than Garcia did, and was a more effective aggressor overall. Later in the fights both aggressors gassed, allowing the more elusive fighters to come back strong. Peterson had a much better comeback than Pascal did, he basically dominated the last several rounds.
So with the similarities pointed out, what is your take on the scoring? Personally I scored Garcia/Peterson for Garcia even though Garcia was dominated late. Peterson's inactivity early created a chasm he couldn't cross. In Pascal/Gonzalez I scored for Gonzalez, with similar reasoning to the other fight. Still Pascal was much more active in the early rounds than Peterson, but he didn't come on nearly as strong at the end either. I think Gonzalez was a better aggressor than Garcia, who was having a hard time catching Peterson.
I guess I have a hard time seeing how Garcia won his fight, but Gonzalez didn't win his.
