Well that fight delivered what was expected of it.
Although it was nice to see Flores looking so poor after he took to Twitter the other month to call out the likes of Roman Gonzalez, saying that the smaller fighters 'just aren't exciting'.
Lmao! This guy had trouble cutting the ring against "2 Left Feet" Shumenov?
This fight must've been hilarious to watch.
It was weird as hell. I turned it on after the Kovalev broadcast ended, and it pained me to watch even a minute straight of a round. I probably watched a round's worth in total. Horrendous fight. BJ and his home crew are strange people also.
I really hated BJ's post fight comments. If a guy has movement it is your job to cut the ring off. You can't do that? Your not elite. I was cheering for Flores but come on. It was the same thing we see over and over. A puncher frustrated by movement. It is boxing not brawling. It is your job to make the fight not whine that your opponent wouldn't fight your fight.
LAS VEGAS - Beibut Shumenov (16-2, 10 KOs) defeated B.J. Flores (31-2-1, 20 KOs) by unanimous decision Saturday night to win a cruiserweight world title on Premier Boxing Champions on NBCSN from the Pearl at Palms Casino Resort.
Shumenov came out aggressive early before using his movement late to earn a world title in a second division and become the first fighter from Kazakhstan to achieve that feat. Flores was competitive throughout the fight, countering effectively when Shumenov showed aggression while landing more power punches.

I hate it when fighters blame a loss on the other fighter 'running'. Unless you have a situation where the opponent is literally refusing to engage or even enter into striking range then it's a wack excuse. Boxing involves movement, and if your preference is to fight in close then it's up to you to cut the opponent down. If you lack the footwork or other skills necessary to do that then that's your problem, no one else's.
Saying that, I haven't seen the Flores Shumenov match yet, so I don't know is this was a genuine case of the other fighter running, but I doubt it. At any rate, it would have been impossible to win just running all night since you wouldn't have even been able to land your own shots, let alone avoid the opponent's.
What I witnessed was BJ losing and then crying about it.
Both of these dudes are terrible. Shumenov is god awful himself and the fact that he made someone look like an amateur, says about there is to say about this.
I caught the final couple of rounds and that **** was painful to watch. The funny thing is that Flores caught Shumenov with a right hand in the last couple of seconds before the final bell rang and then he got all hyped up and started screaming once the fight ended, because he landed one punch lol
