The fight with Rios took place after Pacquiao's loss to Marquez and the winner of the Algieri-Provodnikov fight was expected to get Pacquiao next. Around the time of the Algieri fight, nobody really had any good ideas for who should've fought Pacquiao instead (people were even bringing up Abregu...and then he got stopped...and then there was nothing but silence lol).

Mayweather has no excuses because he does have far better choices. Thurman, Porter, Brook, and Khan would have made a heck of a lot more sense than Berto.

Saying Berto is a better pick because he's an ex-champ doesn't follow imo. Would you say Luis Collazo would be a better opponent than Terrence Crawford because the former has previously held a international and world 147 titles and the latter has only fought at 140 before?

if mayweather has bad blood with berto, he wont fight him.
                why?
because who the **** is berto? nobody is giving him a chance to beat mayweather, so mayweather doesnt need to fight him to prove anything.
bad blood means u dont want the other guy to get anything good, so why give him a payday?
                dumb ariza

Berto is a horrible pick, but again to be clear, Berto is a better opponent then Rios and Algeri. Berto has been a belt holder @ 147, Rios and Algeri had not won a single fight in the WW division! If Luis Collazo had stopped Thurman with that left hook to the body, then YES, Collazo would be a better opponent @ 147 than Terence Crawford! Rios lost to Alvarado @ 140, not 147! Algeri had a very controversial win over Provodnikov, @ 140, not 147. People give excuses for other champions, yet hold Floyd to a much higher standard! I don't agree with Berto at all, but stop making excuses for fighters choosing Rios, Algeri, and Salka.
