  • Comments Thread For: Tarver To Cunningham: Your Basic Bull**** Won't Hit Me!

As Antonio Tarver and Steve Cunningham jawed back-and-forth at each other during a particularly heated media conference call, Tarver’s own tirade had him touting his credentials while deriding Cunningham’s ability to beat him.

“Ain’t nobody going to out-box me, period. The only way he going to beat me is knock me out, and that’s it,” Tarver said on July 23. “I ain’t gotta cut no weight. I’m feeling strong. I don’t have the problems I had at light heavyweight, so I’m at my best and I’m bringing it, period.”

Tarver is in the middle of his PED cycle, as we speak.

I hope Tarver wins so he can afford his child support with the next big money bout.

Wait, didn't Cunningham's daughter need a heart transplant. I mean he's got to pay for that.

So I guess I will root for Cunningham instead of Tarver.

This is an interesting match-up because Cunningham can't punch.

Which puts into question... How the hell is Fury gonna handle the power of Klitchko. Cunningham can punch but isn't a guy who try's to utilize his power.

I see it being a slow boring match until one decides to bring it. Hopefully Cunningham will because he doesn't have much longer in the sport if he continues to lose (by robbery/close decision or draw)

Is it weird that I see Tarver as the bigger man here?

Tarver is 46, so he definitely doesn't have much time left. This is a Do-or-Die fight for both, and Cunningham has the physical and youth advantages. A loss to old-ass Tarver would be humiliating.

Say what you want about him, but Tarvers punches definitely had some power behind them in the Banks fight. Steve is one of my favorite fighters, but I favor Antonio.

Yeah, I just rewatched the ending to the Banks fight and Taver's shots had some mustard on them. Very fast and compact as well, considering his age. Cunningham will have to treat Tarver with caution on he could find himself on his arse again.
