Froch was so mentally ruined that he turned down the chance to face a bum in his comeback and instead decided to face the other top SMW in the division at the time. A guy who had a feared reputation as a KO puncher.

The same guy who Andre Ward refused to fight after the Super Six, even in Oakland for his biggest paycheque.

He was so lacking in confidence and embarrassed about the Ward loss that he smashed him to bits in 5 rounds.

Let it be known, NE, let it be known!

that feared KO puncher should have had a loss to liberado freaking andrade. the best SMW in the world were in the tournament. froch, ward, kessler.

even if you think bute made the count, that still happened. liberado andrade did that to him. he was looking at his corner, so he wasn't hurt

most british fans just want to see their guy win, and hardly to think about boxing more than that. they didn't know who lucian bute was, and overrated him. so did a lot of other people. its easy to get carried away with a big puncher. bute was not a legitimate threat.

you think golovkin's no good, right? or at least overrated?
he knocked bute out in the amateurs. you've probably seen it.

i don't think bute is an awful fighter. he had some talent. the power looked real. he was overrated, however. froch showed the gap in class. we have the benefit of hindsight. we've seen the rest of his career unfold. his best win is sakio bika

if he got by carl froch, and ward didn't fight him, you'd have a very good point. that's not what happened.

From what I remember Bute had a reputation for fighting rather soft opponents and Froch exposed him. And I was a Bute fan and I even defended him at the time. I have to admit that I was wrong about him. The proof was when he fought Pascel like he was waiting to get knocked out.

He may not have needed it but what has he done since? Dawson? Rodriguez? Smith? Unless Ward goes on a run of Degale, Groves/Jack and someone else worthy of world championship recognition, Froch will be remembered more fondly in the division and possibly ranked higher.

Ward should've just taken the payday lol

No way Froch will be ranked higher then Ward. Andre cleaned out a division and beat the number 1 guy in the LH division. Froch will always be remembered as the second or even third best in the division. It may not be your fault though. Maybe your brain is just malfunctioning because of the thin oxygen on Planet Oberon.

Bute was not feared at all. He was a manufactured hype job. A KO waiting to happen.

For anyone to think that he was feared must look at his title defenses and the names that stand out cuz they don't know what they're on about and never followed his career properly.

However, Ward definitely missed the boat on smashing him.

Froch should get full credit for finally exposing Bute, like Maidana did with Broner. To the victor goes the spoil.
