Exactly , this guy and his team claim that they are the A-side , but since when does the A-side START the negotiations at 50/50 ? More smoke and mirrors .

    • I honestly really didn't believe a couple of pounds made a difference either until I saw the Broner/Porter fight . Porter looked like a completely different fighter . I didnt know who that was in the ring , it was awful . For this who still wanna pretend that 4 pounds south of your usual weight limit doesn't mean much please go back and look at that fight .

Between the two Canelo is the A-side, so I'd expect GGG to compromise if he wants the fight.

I don't like catchweights to begin with. BUT....when they do come up, the argument that always dictates is that the "a-side" is demanding it so deal with it because it's a business. OK, if that's the case then it is the case across the board, right? Canelo had to agree to Floyd's demands, as will GGG to Canelo's demands as will Ward to GGG's demands.
No catchweight can be demanded for a mandatory defense. Golovkin has already made it quite clear that he will not accept any catchweight fights when they involve another middleweight fighter. Loeffler was specifically asked the question if GGG would drop down to fight Canelo and the answer was an emphatic NO.

When it comes to the WBC title, Canelo will be contractually obligated to defend it against GGG at the MW limit. He has no choice. Fight or lose the title.

I want Ward/Golovkin, I believe Golovkin beats him in a Bika/Ward style fight. So far everybody here is conveniently ignoring what Abel said at the end of the article: If Ward becomes a relevant star again, then they'll change the weight demand.
Become a relevant champion again? He never became irrelevant. Taking a year off doesn't change the fact that he is a dominant, proven, elite champion who has faced and beaten all the best in his division. Unlike the hype job golovkin who has struggled with c and b level fighters and unknown fighters. Ward is the more accomplished, proven and tested champion here, not golovkin. Golovkin is not in a position to call any shots. If golovkin wants to be great like he says, he is going to have to face ward because he wont find the challenge at MW that's going to elevate him to elite status. And he wont get credit for beating up much smaller fighters in cotto and possibly canelo. He comes in at fight time weighing in the 170s so what's the problem with facing ward at 168? What's that I smell? That sickening repulsive smell. Could it be fear?

Someone has been browsing through boxingscene lately. Bringing up the old Maywther quote is quite silly. They know Ward won't drop to 164. They're quickly nixing the fight. It's too bad. This would be a great matchup.

First of all, there were no negotiations. There was no communication between K2 and Roc Nation. NONE. NADA. RIEN. I guess you have yet to get that into your pea sized brain or are simply too ****** to understand.

Second, there would not be any negotiations. This would be a take it or leave it offer. Want the fight? These are the terms. Don't like them? Go back to fighting on BET.

All I'm saying is that on the basis of my reluctant acceptance of a catchweight fight, my reasoning will remain consistent. I hate catchweights but I can't honestly say I'd agree with a CW in one fight and then switch up my reasoning for another fight. The only somewhat consistent holding point for CW's that I can see that holds for most cases is the bigger money fighter, the bigger draw picks the more comfortable weight, as crappy as that is.

If GGG and his team have other ideas, then that's on them but from a personal review of CW's in general, I view the bigger "star" as having the leverage. This is once again, only for the sake of trying to have a consistent stance on something that I don't agree with in general.

                  Yep.

Anybody that poses any kind of real threat to Golovkin, or that might be a bad style matchup for him, gets rejected by Sanchez. Or has to jump through ridiculous hoops.

Ward, Lara, and even Sergio freaking Mora are perfect examples.

                  • Honestly K2 , GGG and his team have handled this whole situation poorly.

It's clear that them insisting the fight happen at 164 means they don't want the fight ( Hopefully down the road it does, I'm thinking 2016 ). Every time Wards names gets mentioned they come across as fraudulent for the last couple years theyve used every excuse in the book

                    - Wards inactive
                    - $ not right
                    - Wants to Unify
                    - Wards Promoter Problems

Now it looks like Wards back on the scene so all those excuses go out the window and they want the fight but only at 164 which they know Ward won't accept but just giving the illusion they want the fight when they clearly don't.

F.uck it though GGG / Ward is becoming the new May / Pac on this site , 2 sides clearly divided and it makes for some good reading. Still think it happens in 2016.

Golovkin is afraid of Ward, the CW request proves that. The Golovkin myth has been busted.
