  • Comments Thread For: Andre Ward-Gennady Golovkin Roadblocked Over Weight

A source with knowledge of the situation has advised BoxingScene.com that a potential fight between Andre Ward and Gennady 'GGG' Golovkin is being held up by the weight.

From what BoxingScene was told, Golovkin's side is insisting on a catch-weight of 164-pounds.

There have been conversations between Roc Nation Sports (who have Ward) and K2 Promotions (who have Golovkin), but those discussions have gone absolutely nowhere because the two sides are unable to get past the issue of weight.

Why don't Golovkin's team just admit they don't want the fight right now?

They can move up for Froch and Chavez but not Ward

They can drain Ward to 164 but will not go down to 154 for anyone but Floyd

He can beat everybody from 154-168......but won't fight them

Let's cut the BS. Team Golovkin has a sweet deal with HBO where they can fight Willie Monroe level opponents and cash in. When you have that kind of deal, what's the incentive to even challenge yourself? You can maintain the excuse that everybody is ducking and keep the money flowing in.

Ward said he'd fight Floyd Mayweather at 160. Why won't he go to 164 for GGG?

The self-proclaimed "Son of God" made poor Chad Dawson drain down from 175 to 168.

Ward said he'd fight "anyone at 175" - why not go for Kovalev next?
