Comments Thread For: Golovkin Tabs Canelo To Beat Cotto in Showdown

WBA/IBO middleweight champion Gennady "GGG" Golovkin is picking Saul "Canelo" Alvarez to unseat WBC middleweight king Miguel Cotto in November.

The two superstars are expected to collide in the fall, with November 7 and November 21 as the two popular dates being mentioned. Las Vegas still appears to be the frontrunner to host, with the MGM Grand and the Thomas & Mack Center as the venues of choice.

how can he see that he needs to drain ward bc of skill, but can see that cotto's skill set is just going to be to much for the spurts that canelo will try to fight in..

GGG's boxing iq could be in question here..it surely is in the ring bc he's not getting credit for doing anything with that list of opponents he has..

Cottoīs better movement could be a problem for Canelo. I just hope Canelo wins so that Cotto canīt keep the belt hostage any longer.

To me, it sounds like Golovkin wants Canelo to win so that he can fight him. And I don't believe Canelo would be a hard fight for him at all. False praise with an ulterior motive. Canelo is the easier fight for Golovkin based on styles. Cotto would be more defensive and harder to pin down than Canelo.

Actually It sounds as if GGG wants Canelo to win because he knows Canelo will actually fight him unlike Cotto.

wishful thinking from golovkin - he knows that canelo is the only one of the two who may actually fight him someday. personally, i think that cotto is the better rounded of the two and will capitalise on canelo's inability to effectively set the pace

I disagree with some people saying Canelo doesn't have defense.Since when have we seen an opponent capitalize on Canelo's defense and he has recently fought two of the most accurate fighters in the sport in Mayweather and Lara. Conversely we've seen Cotto hospital and generally just ****ed up countless times through the years.
