Wlad apparently has signed a new 5 fight contract with RTL

I didn't catch the press conference, but info coming out of that suggest that Wlad has signed that extension. I don't know if that includes the Fury fight, but assuming it doesn't and Wlad beats Fury, that lines him up for 5 more fights, probably covering all of 2016 and 2017...maybe spilling over into 2018 (three fights and two fights, or two, two, and one).

Will he call it a day if he gets to complete those five fights?

Who would you like to see him fight in those fights?

Can Wlad push back father time from completely setting in for another 2-3 years?

EDIT - the news has been confirmed now by K2 manager Bernd Boente.

I'm surprised. I thought he'd stay around for 3 fights, max.

Fury, winner of Povetkin-Wilder, and possibly Joshua or Parker.

There are a couple of other guys, of course (Ortiz, Helenius etc.), but those are the ones that stand out.

I guess it's easy money. He's hasn't taken punishment or faced a challenge in years.

If Wlad can beat in these 5 fights:

            - Fury, followed by

            - Wilder/Povetkin (maybe both)
            - Glazkov
            - Joshua
            - Possibly another up and comer if he doesn't fight Povetkin AND Wilder

That would arguably be the best lineup and run of opponents in his career...and guys like AJ are still young and have potential to be ATGs after Wlad's gone...I think the resume will be looked at a lot better in 10-20 years, if Wlad can of course get a run like that.

Risky as hell though, but that's what the fans want to see from the HW champ.

Indeed surprising news if true. He still has the fire, then, physically and mentally. Still lots of young guns to dispose of, I have several more years ahead of me then to finally see him at a German stadium again

Going for that Joe Louis record?

Joe Louis record - 11 years, 8 months, 8 days

                  Wlad currently - 9 years, 2 months, 29 days

With 5 more defenses - if he lasts that long - he will probably be around till the first quarter of 2018, let's say by April 2018 he will be done.

                  That's still 2 years, 9 months away.

Wlad would be on course to break the record, but in terms of title defenses he still needs 8 to get ahead of Louis.

Overall, it is up in the air...that's a lot of time for Wlad to maintain his level and there are some dangerous tests ahead.

Hard to predict whether he will achieve it.

Wlad has only been lineal since Chagaev, he was only a title holder before.
