It's blatantly obvious Stevenson is chickens*** and want no part of Kovalev, but you can't blame the man for signing with Haymon, he can fight bums until he is 40 for way more money. Sucks, but that's his choice, it's business.

SO it would've been on showtime. Duva/Kov made the request, got it, then they pull out, and you blame GYM. Geez man.
Stop trying to shift the issue. Kov is avoiding Stevenson at this time. Call it what it is. Stevenson fought bums while Kov fought Hopkins and Pascal. We know this and have discussed it.
Kovalev is not avoiding Stevenson, in fact, I would venture that if he saw him in the street he would probably reach for him. That's how much I think he's avoiding him.
Now, in 2015, as of this debate, Kov is fighting a 45-1 mandatory instead of Stevenson. Call him on it. You didn't give Stevenson credit for previous tough fights, so don't do it here.
Lets stay current!
If Sukhotsky and Bika were Stevenson's mandatories he would get a pass but they're his voluntaries, these are the guys Al Haymon and Adonis Stevenson are choosing to fight.
Haymon is making the same lame showcase match-ups on PBC and watching the ratings slide week to week. This is what you blindly support, but by all means continue.Last edited by Weebler I; 07-21-2015, 06:27 PM.Comment

I'd imagine at some point he wants to fight someone that actually matters, in front of more than a couple hundred paying customers. Folks like yourself that are perfectly content watching your favs beat the **** outta no name bums are actually in the minority. The rest of us wanna see meaningful fights.Comment

I want a link to the specifics of why Stevenson did what he did (when Stevenson bolted HBO it certainly appeared that he was running from Sergey - also, Stevenson appeared to be reluctant to fight BHop), so if it was all about HBO refusing to give Stevenson $300,000 more, that seems quite amazing (and pass up the opportunity to feature the top two high heavyweights on HBO) for basically small change and lose that opportunity perhaps forever. By the way, given the opponents Stevenson has faced since he left HBO, it really appears that he doesn't care to be matched against the best opponents.

Here you got. It also shows that Stevenson took his Showtime deal to HBO to match it and HBO refused. If anybody killed the fight it was HBO. Haymon wanted Stevenson to stay with HBO but as his manager/advisor it's his job to get his client the best deal possible. By giving HBO the opportunity to match the Showtime deal it shows they really wanted to stay with HBO

Why would it have been on Showtime?

I'm not calling him on fighting his mandatory ffs. If he doesn't fight him he gets stripped, and Mohammedi has been waiting since last July so it wasn't an option, he had to fight him regardless of anything else.
If Sukhotsky and Bika were Stevenson's mandatories he would get a pass but they're his voluntaries, these are the guys Al Haymon and Adonis Stevenson are choosing to fight.

Who cares about what happens if he saw him on the street. What matters is in the ring and Kov is avoiding him right now. You may not want to admit it, but that doesn't mean it isn't true.
Please, stop making fighting his mandatory something virtuous. He's doing it only to avoid Adonis right now. You have repeatedly said belts are worthless. Now, you are arguing making the mandatory to keep the belt is important. GTFOH!!
Yes, this matchup is lame. Nice attempt to deflect to PBC and its ratings, which has nothing to do with Kov fighting a 45-1 underdog on HBO.Comment
