Ratings for PBC on CBS on Saturday were poor based on this report: http://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2015...lf-nbc/#pbccbs #boxing

Another Sub-1.0 Overnight For PBC on CBS

The latest edition of the Premier Boxing Champions series drew a 0.8 overnight rating on CBS Saturday afternoon, even with the network's previous telecast in late June. Three of the four PBC events on CBS have failed to earn at least a 1.0 overnight.

Because they aren't giving compelling matchups for the most part...

And Pbc schedule is all over the place, spikeTV, CBS, showtime, etc. Day, night, Saturdays, Fridays...
Casuals can't follow along with that...

They should have just bought all the airtime off espn and had fights every Friday night.. So people know week in/week out when pbc is going to be on..

Bellator and wwe use that same model and have grown a big following

PBC should just close up shop and allow things to return to the good old days. You guys remember the good old days when we saw 12 fights a year on Showtime and HBO and three PPV events, and we could count on the fact that three off those 15 events would be competitive fights between A-level opponents that were actually worth staying home on Saturday night to watch..

I think this would have been better for them as well. The idea of PBC is to get people who aren't real hardcore fans. They probably aren't paying as close of attention as those of us who post on a boxing site.

Also, I like the daytime cards, but I am not sure if they will work for bigger fights. Thats a big reason why overseas fights get weak ratings in America.

Interesting how Adonis Stevenson did so well compared to the other afternoon broadcasts. 1.1 rating with a 1.85 million viewers peak.

These ratings and their budgets are a disaster. I honestly dont think this was meant to succeed. Their whole model has been flawed from the beginning by overpaying guys.

He's the biggest star (or closest to a star) who's fought on a CBS daytime card.

I like the idea of some afternoon cards, I've for years wondered why more European fights aren't shown here (seems like showing them here would be cheap programming for someone). But there is no real guarantee that there is a big audience want to watch any fight in the afternoon. This might be the best it does in the afternoon.

True, always thought a smart way to gain viewership would have been to make a tournament with fights on a regular schedule. Something people could follow until the end.

Good post. Tho wrt to euro fights, anyone that watches those posts here, and its only a fraction of the posters. Wealth TV carried some UK shows lately, before it was some other guys with fat Dan commentating on German/k2 cards, then there was Versus showing Adamek Uss and Froch Pascal iirc. All petered out, nobody watching
