  • Comments Thread For: Joshua: It's Title Fights All The Way From Now On

Anthony Joshua had to shoulder today’s press conference for his showdown with Gary Cornish for the vacant heavyweight Commonwealth title as his Scotland-based co-challenger failed to show up due to a delayed flight. The fight takes place on an Eddie Hearn-promoted bill at London's O2 on September 2nd.

Joshua (13-0, 13KOs) showed a flair for promotion by talking up the other fights on the bill in Cornish’s absence while Tommy Gilmour, his manager, issued a few missives on the behalf of his missing fighter, who is 21-0 (12KOs).

“The guys beside me on the table have great fans, I’m expecting it to be lively,” stated Joshua. “This fight will build and will be explosive.” [Click Here To Read More]

Don't know much about Cornish but it's for the Commenwealth Title and then Whyte is for the British title.

Hearn also said they're looking at Teper for the European after that. Would have been better commercially if it was Price but I knew that big stiff idiot would get KO'd again.

I quite like when Brit fighters go the "traditional route", not essential but looks good on paper. Micky Higgs or whatever his name is will certainly be happy

I really can't understand why the vacant British title's not on the line as well. AJ & GC deserve the opportunity to win 1 out-right, as Lennox did. So why's the BBBofC not sanctioning it?!

        Right on cue

The winner vs Dillian Whyte is for the British title.

price clearly isnt an idiot so i dont get the idiot jibe, he's chinny thats all and doesnt move well Ive said it for ages he's too twisted, he needs to stand up straight now hunch down then he'll be able to move. But his trainers made him like that. He should have stepped back as soon as that right hand landed then that left hook wouldnt have been in range. but no.

Dirk: Both Josh & Corny are highly ranked by the board, so why not just put the belt on the line with the winner to face Whyte? Is it because there in financial stress & can't afford to pay for one or what? There quick enough to take sanction fees, so they should put it on the line. The belts vacant, so let's see it contested!

Price just has a horrible, horrible chin. Whenever he feels even the slightest contact around the face area, he immediately hunches over to stare at the floor. He did against both TT 2nd fight and Teper. If he didn't do that he might be one heck of a HW. But just don't see him correcting that..

im worried about anthony's chin, he literally has not been hit flush yet...
The way he get's excited and goes for the kill and leaves his chin up in the air spells disaster
                hope im wrong.

Gary Cornish was meant to fight Dillian Whyte as an final eliminator but pulled out and Tommy Gilmour said it was too risky lol.

The board then made Whyte v Fury for the title but obliviously Tyson vacated to fight Wlad.

The board then ordered Whyte v Joshua for the vacant title.
