  • Comments Thread For: Lucas Browne-Gonzalo Basile Set For August 14th

LUCAS "BIG DADDY" BROWNE will engage in a warm up contest against Argentina's experienced Gonzalo Basile next month before switching his attention to WBA heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev.

The heavy-hitting Aussie is the current mandatory challenger for Chagaev's crown, but a series of uncontrollable issues have led to the fight being delayed.

Now, Hatton Promotions has taken the decision to allow Lucas to defend his WBA Intercontinental title against battle-hardened Basile in Melbourne on August 14.

Browne ain't beating the Uzbek so he'd better pray to his god Oquendo defeats him some how, I could see Browne stopping Oquendo possibly, dude ain't been relevant for a long time.

Shocking fight but I suppose with the WBA ****ing Browne hard up the ass you can't blame him for this. Browne could easily lose to just about anybody and it wouldn't be worth it to him to lose his mando. He needed a hometown decision to get by Rudenko after all.

I scored the fight a draw at the time. For Hughie Fury to go on and soundly defeat Rudenko I feel it kinda shows where Browne is really at, I mean he was being out boxed by that French kid last year when he was cut and had to throw the kitchen sink at him.
