given his talent, i think that's a fair statement. he didn't want a ward rematch, which is understandable.

Very good fighter, always gave the fans a show. Showed great heart, grit and determination. The only fight I didnt enjoy was the Dirrell slip and slide festival.

Fighting Ward again would have been pointless. In later interviews Froch acknowledges how difficult that would have been to win. Ward is extremely skilful, in a class of his own. But Froch's legacy is that he's made it to the highest level without the same skill set, through dogged determination and brute force. Boxing is better for having fighters like Froch, more concerned with making their name rather than just making money.

I'm sad to see Froch go, didn't like his personality but he was an exciting fighter to watch and the thing that I respect most is that while he was active - he fought everybody he was supposed to.

Very unusual in this era of boxing.

So long Froch, a notch below Great. There are many tough guys in boxing with heart/determination. He was one of them. One of the slowest fighters I've seen.

Probably the best run of this era of back to back to back top notch contenders

They don't make em like Carl Froch anymore? You mean they don't make them slow with terrible footwork and with poor technique? Jesus this guy is so overrated it amazes how people think he is something special. Just because he is tough and has a chin, is that it?

                  - This is a guy who was knocked down and basically run out of the ring for 11 rounds by Jermaine Taylor.
                  - This is a guy who was thoroughly embarrassed by Ward.
                  - This is a guy who lost to an underachieving Dirrell and got a hometown decision.
                  - This is a guy who lost once and went life and death with Kessler (whom Joe C. beat in his prime without much effort).
                  - This is a guy who barely beat and old worn out Glen Johnson.
                  - This is a guy who was knocked down and almost knocked out by George Groves who is a B class fighter.

They don't make em "like this" anymore? Seriously? Lol Jesus.

I don't think Ward particularly wanted it, either, it was just the best money he could have made. It's not like the first fight suggested a rematch would go differently.

I wonder how bad the Taylor myth is going to get over the years. You already have people like this who say he was embarrassed for 11 rounds.

No, they don't make fighters who spend nearly a decade fighting tough fights at the world class level without a break and winning damn near all of them anymore. Sorry that upsets you so much.
