Comments Thread For: Robert Garcia Assures Chavez Jr. Trained Hard in Camp

Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-2-1, 32KOs) has long been criticized for being lazy during training camp but for this camp he trained very hard and following every instruction, according to his new trainer Robert Garcia of Oxnard, California.

This Saturday night in El Paso, Texas - Chavez Jr. will return to the ring in a fight agreed to at a max weight of 169-pounds against Marcos 'Dorado' Reyes.

Garcia says Chavez Jr. trained very hard, day after day, and he often worked way beyond schedule.

Hopefully he is finally motivated. I'd like to see him do well. He isn't scared of anyone and brings big money to the table, which makes a lot of potential fights possible.

Who'd have thought that the combination between Robert Garcia and Chavez Jr would produce a fighter who fails to make weight?

I don't understand why so many reputable trainer's (some hall of fame bound) still give him so many chances only for Jr to make them look bad in the process.

Granted, he has legendary father but was is that worth at their own expense. This kid is not cut from the same cloth that true fighter's are made of.

Because the trainer works off a percentage of the purse and Jr still makes money.
