Derrick Webster (19-0) vs. Arif Magomedov (15-0) on Showtime July 17
Derrick Webster vs Arif Magomedov will be televised by Showtime on Friday July 17.

Derrick Webster is managed by Al Haymon and has an excellent (19-0) record, but hasn't fought the best opposition. He's a tall lanky fighter at 6'4" and has a very long reach for a middleweight. He's actually fought mainly at super-middleweight, although his last fight was at middleweight.
Arif Magomedov is just age 22 and is a very good middleweight prospect (15-0), but he's going to be in tough against the 5" taller, longer, more experienced Webster.Comment

Magomed takes this I reckon, he may not be as tall but his power is deceiving and may catch Webster cold.Comment

It's strange that Webster's promoter is the one running the show and they've put their guy into a situation where he's not the favorite. Magomedov looks to be a very promising MW prospect. I expect ME will start pairing him on cards with Kovalev soon.Comment

I was thinking, since Webster and Antoine Douglas are promoted by the same promoter maybe they were using Webster to do a little scouting on Magomedov. They're probably using Webster as a pun, to see what Arif has and maybe pit him against Douglas in the future.
I think Mago beats both of them anyway.
I agree with this.
It's difficult to tell imo. Khytrov doesn't look impressive, but imo he's really good. I think Khytrov has fought really sold opposition for a guy with ten pro fights, so that tells you that his handlers are probably confident in his ability. Don't forget this guy was robbed out of a potential Gold medal at the Olympics. We'll see who's better as they step up in competition.
Mago has been matched with some tough fights already. I was very impressed with his pose in the Mendy fight. One thing about Khytrov as you pointed out is that he's very experienced from his years in the top level of the amateur system. Mago's essentially matching Khytrov's opponent skill level with far less experience and seems to rely less on his power and more on his technical ability. Though I don't approve of Edmund as his coach, southern California is probably hands down the best place in the world to develop a prospect.Comment
