Just because a fighter loses doesn't mean he's "past prime"

One common MYTH among boxing forumers is that every time a fighter that one likes loses, he's "past his prime", people claimed Morales was past his prime when he lost to Raheem then went on to later defeat Pacquiao, people have been saying Cotto is "past prime" for like 5 fking years, just 2 examples.

When a fighter is past his prime, his skills diminish and he looks like a different fighter. Pacquiao looks the fking same as he always has, so does Cotto. Past prime is a fighter like Roy Jones who's shot to **** with absolutely no legs, or Hopkins who's acitivity level is non-existed and he's figured out a way to throw 1-2 punches per round and hold to steal decisions.

So stop labeling people past prime until their speed, reflexes have changed and not because they fking lost.

Bolded part: You mean, Pacquiao went on to beat Morales?

"Just because a fighter loses doesn't mean he's "past prime""

Maybe it means he wasn't that good to begin with?

That's true, but you used terrible examples, Pacquiao suffered a brutal and potentially career ending KO, he is definitely not the same as he once was. Same as Cotto who took two terrible beatings, wars like that leave a mark. It depends on the loss, Mayweather for example doesn't really damage fighters, while Provodnikov even when losing usually damages opponents.

Perfectly describes Pacquiao right now, just because he lost to number 1 doesn't make him passed it.

Pretty much. If you lose, you suck.

You can be past prime and still compete at the top level

Perhaps we need to educate the TS on "prime years".

You used two horrible examples. If you had said Canelo or maybe even Broner then you would have a better argument.
