Comments Thread For: Paul Smith Not Even Close To Decision on Ring Future

Paul Smith remains undecided on whether to box again following his stoppage defeat to super-middleweight king Andre Ward.

The 32-year-old Liverpudlian was beaten inside nine rounds by Ward in a catchweight bout in Oakland, California last month, which led to trainer Joe Gallagher telling him to call it a day.

Smith (35-6-0-KO20) has now lost his last three fights following back-to-back world title defeats to Arthur Abraham and, although he has said he would like to go out on a high, admits he is not considering a return to the ring just yet.

The only option PS has is the either challenge British & Commonwealth L/H champ Bob Ajisafe or retire. He's only 1 notch away from a Lonsdale belt out-right & so this is his only chance to have anything in his trophy cabinet.

If I were Paul Smith, I'd watch and re-watch the Ward fight of May 20th. Then I'd retire. Or, I'd make up my mind that I'd fight at least once more and do everything necessary to regain some measure of respect as a boxer.

I'd like to see him fight once more in his home town (since there are cards held there often), against a beatable opponent.
I think it would be a good decision to call it a day soon, as he's made his money in his last 3 fights.

... Paul Smith just saw what happened with Salka: he was ranked only after he was dispatched by Danny...
