Ricky Burns is moving back down to lightweight and wants to be part of a crackling division again.

The former two-weight world champion has lost three of his last four fights, his last outing being a close defeat but impressive performance against Omar Figueroa, in Texas, in May.

That was Burns' (37-5-1-KO11) second fight up at light-welterweight but although he had no trouble making the weight, he now wants to play a major part in an exciting lightweight division again.

He put a lot into that Figueroa fight. I feel moving down to 135 would be good for him. Especially when there is a lot of domestic fights there for him..he does need the pay day now.
Matthews has a interim belt, Crolla and Flanagan may soon hold World Titles. Luke Capmbell, Richard Commey is no stranger to the UK also.

Sounds like a bad idea to me, he looks better at 140. I always thought, since he never fought in America, that he was a dancer, fancy dan type. Figueroa had a hard time getting Burn to back off and Burn was doing some nasty stuff on the inside. He used his weight well. Burn lost on the 2 point home town rule in Texas, not bad.

Burns is due to box on the Hull card. I have no doubt, as I've said before, that Hearn intends using Ricky as a stepping stone into the contender mix for Luke Campbell once the Olympian has dealt with local rival Tommy Coyle.
