I want him against Povetkin. He's the champ and should fight this fight. He won his title in good 12 round fashion. Then got his tomato can first defense in. Now fight Povetkin and prove your worth. If he wants to make a real impact on the heavyweight division he need to crush all comers not just sit on the title and fight tomato can after tomato. He needs to fight the best available and Povetkin is next up.

The sanctioning body gives a mandatory challenger and the champion a certain time to negotiate a fight. The WBC has ordered Wilder and Povetkin to begin negotiations in October. It is highly unlikely that any agreement will be signed before then as it is rarely in the interest of the parties involved to rush to the fight.
If the parties cannot reach an agreement (happens often), then a purse bid is ordered where multiple parties can come offer to host the fight. For a recent exmple, Wlad-Fury was settled literally minutes before the purse bidding was set to begin.
Wilder gains nothing by rushing to sign the contract and loses nothing by waiting out the process. The process will play itself out and in the meantime Wilder will stay busy..

I think it should be a top ranked WBC contender
this is the WBC top 10.
1 .- Alexander Povetkin (Russia) SILVER
2 .- Anthony Joshua (GB) INTL
3 .- Vyacheslav Glazkov (Ukraine)
4 .- Bermane Stiverne (Haiti/Canada)
5 .- Bryant Jennings (US)
6 .- Lucas Browne (Australia)
7 .- Eric Molina (US)
8 .- Andy Ruiz (Mexico) NABF
9 .- Artur Szpilka (Poland)
10 .- Carlos Takam (Cameroon)
I think either Glakov, Browne ot Spillika would be good fights for the champ, Povetkin wont agree to random testing, Joshua isn't ready and the rest don't interest me.

Why did Wilder get Haymon to ask the WBC to delay discussions with Povetkin until October? Povetkin wants the fight with Wilder this year.
The WBO and WBA set a MUCH earlier deadline for Klitschko-Fury discussions, it was discussions in June and the purse bid for July 6.
