ya i agree i think he wants to put on a great performance cause people can act like they dont care about mayweather but thats ridiculous and everyone knows it. even if they dont buy it the first thing they are doing is trying to find a stream. the reality is even if he fights a bum for 49 as long as he gets that win the bidding for his 50th fight is going to be gigantic. i think haymons backers pay him so they can put it on pbc but regardless he is going to make a killing on number 50 no matter who it is and 49 is nothing but a w
Will PPV buys influence Mayweather's decision for next opponent?

Well he's guaranteed like 30 million so I don't think it matters. He'll choose his final opponent regardless of how popular they are. ...you've genuinely never heard of Andre Berto?Comment

Ofcourse it does. Showtime is not gonna take a loss no matter how much the floyd manny fight made. It will still need to be an opponent worthy of decent ppv sales.Comment

I wouldn't mind him taking an easy fight if his career was filled with tough fights but it hasn't been. He'll fight who he wants and as long as CBS/Showtime break even they could give a ****. Floyd/Pac did nearly double what they were expecting, money isn't even an issue at this point.Comment

You may be right but who knows. If they do go down the Mayweather-Berto line, I hope they put on a Garcia-Matthysse level undercard.Comment

I am sure it does because Floyd is greedy and greedy people can never have enough. So what he made last time out is irrelevant to someone like that, he will still want the maximum amount next time out.Comment

Like if Floyd chooses someone like Berto or Mayfield, I'm pretty sure the PPV buys for that fight would be low and less money would be made.
So would Floyd take a bigger name to increase PPV Buys for his next fight?
I mean, if Floyd picks freaking Berto or Mayfield (guys who I never heard of until now) there's no way in hell that I'm gonna pay a PPV for that.
Still, if Floyd sticks to his word, this is his last opportunity to cash out as a fighter and seeking the biggest cash out is generally seen as his m.o.
For those reasons alone, I think that Berto and Mayfield were names just thrown out as red herrings to the press and I believe that the September fight will be Floyd Mayweather Jr(c) vs Kell Brook(c) for the unified/undisputed welterweight championship of the world.
The US PPV number gets thrown into a frenzy with the domestic media push (Floyd's last fight, chance to formally unify all of the titles at welterweight for the first time, facing off against another big, strong, undefeated young lion with ability, etc), while also selling the fight on PPV in the UK (Matchroom Sport is already planning a massive London show on the same night, likely headlined by James Degale in this situation).
You add the US PPV and UK PPV together, and Floyd has an event that does over $100m-$150m in PPV revenue, let alone the revenue brought in on the live event in Las Vegas and the domestic closed circuit money.
Grab another $60m-$70m on the way out.Comment
