  • Comments Thread For: Calzaghe: Pacquiao Allowed Mayweather To Dictate Pace

Hall of Famer and former champion Joe Calzaghe felt Manny Pacquiao's inability to control the pace was his downfall in the May 2nd mega-fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

In the majority of his fights, Pacquiao is whirlwind who overwhelms his opponents with a high temp of combinations and power punches. That wasn't the case with Mayweather, who won a twelve round unanimous decision.

Floyd did not win that fight, reason why everybody was booing and that's his boxing legacy.

Still? Fighter after fighter. Trainer after trainer all say the same thing. And there are still guys like you out there saying he didn't win. Do a quick scroll though the Boxing Scene archives, read the headlines and articles of opinions on that fight and then think about why anyone should believe you over these professional and reputable people in the sport. Not to mention our own eyes.

Joe's analysis is right; Floyd won the fight. I just cannot see how anybody had Manny winning (especially as Manny said his shoulder was injured early on in the fight). If we believe what Manny said about his shoulder, then those who believe that Manny won the fight must believe that Manny beat Floyd despite his (Manny) having a severe shoulder injury for two thirds of the fight which then required post fight surgery.

Tyson and Holyfield had Manny winning watch the fight in slow motion and you see these two legends were right

It wasn't boring, that's what I consider a masterpiece and brilliant performance.

Calzaghe said Pacquiao had a good fourth and fifth LOL...

5th round was Pacquiao's worst round in the entire fight..so much for his "expert" analysis...

Calzaghe is falling for the same propaganda that puts the burden on Manny to carry the fight...

Floyd isn't expected to have to fight..he just has to be able to NOT get dominated in the round to win...

It's actually not that hard to survive 12 rounds in boxing when you run and clinch the entire fight..**** Lacy got the 12 with Calzaghe and that was after taking a beating...
