Fighting the best in your division is a good place to start. Weight-jumping is also valued when discussing P4P. 6 of BoxingScene's top 10 have fought in at least two divisions (Floyd, Manny, Crawford, Gonzalez, Estrada, Bradley).
In order to be P4P-worthy, you have to be #1 or #2 in your own division first imo.
They should probably be one of the 10 best fighters in the world
But how do you classify that amongst the many great fighters there are in the sport? Silly question maybe to ask. But I've noticed a lot of invariables in different P4P lists.
Fight a minimum of twice per year against top 10 ranked competition or 4 times per year against lesser ranked competition. More than 6 months between fights and you drop 5 spots. 1 year between fights and you drop off the list. Once off the list, need to fight two top 10 contenders to get back on. Have a minimum of 20 fights to qualify for the 6 - 10 spots and minimum of 25 to qualify for the 1 - 5 spots.
