Comments Thread For: Erik Morales: Vargas Proved He Can Compete at Top Level

Former four division world champion Erik Morales is very pleased with last month's performance by Jessie Vargas, who lost a twelve round unanimous decision to Timothy Bradley at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. Morales trained Vargas for the fight.

Vargas lost the majority of the rounds, but in the final moments of the twelfth and final round - he landed a big hook to the chin of Bradley and had the two division world champion in very serious trouble.

Not really. Vargas was out of his depth for more than eleven rounds. Anyone can land a good punch. He doesn't belong at this level and this fight proved it.

No, he didn't. He was completely outclassed.

I had it 8-4 for Bradley. Vargas did better than I thought. He has a pretty solid counter jab. I see him a few levels above guys like Guerrero, josesito, berto and paulie. Which still isn't really saying much

Its funny that this refereeing farce probably kept Vargas' career more relevant than if he had 8 seconds to try to finish Tim Bradley.
