If either fighter truly wants the fight to happen there is an easy fix. One of them can just pick the other one as a voluntary defense and therefore I believe that there would be no need for a purse bid. The fight can be on HBO, there is certainly nothing wrong with that. Main Events and Yvon Michel can also split 50-50 and we as fans get to see the fight before we all simply lose interest. As the old saying goes,"strike while the iron is hot!"

The WBC forced the purse bid twice already, and Kovalev backed out both times. Do they really think it would go differently a third time?

I see this becoming a reoccurring theme. It will not surprise me if Kov winds up dropping all the belts as Haymon fighters jump to the front of the rankings.

Why shouldn't Adonis make the financially sound decision for his career? Especially when boxing is such a violent sport that can potentially leave you brain damaged at the end of it all.

If I'm a fan of a fighter, or even not so much a fan, I would never complain about them making a financially sound decision over your ignorant and selfish desires. Besides, Adonis is not the reason the fight is happen, if these promotional companies, managers, and tv channels really wanted the fight to happen, they would make it happen. Only reason they are not making it happen is why? Or yes you got it, finances/money! Everybody is making decisions based on monetary gain, because at the end of the day you will starve and wither away without it.
