I don't mind his commentary, though he goes way overboard hyping guys sometimes. His post fight interviews are downright terrible sometimes, though. Especially when he interviews fighters who don't speak English or don't speak it too well. He asks long, rambling questions that they can't possibly give a good answer to.

He also comes off as a serious company guy a lot of times, but I can't blame him for that. HBO employs him, I expect it from them all.

I don't like him b/c of his whack comparisons with old school fighters that most people have never even heard of let alone seen them fight. He tries a lot of times to take the role of the color commentator and do his job when it's clearly not his expertise.

He should be the voice of reason and yet oftentimes he speaks as if he's the color commentator, promoter and matchmaker.

Even in the last broadcast when he was commentating the Valdez vs Tamayo fight he kept saying how Valdez wasn't varying the speed and the power of his punches, and cool, I mean thanks for noticing it even though he should've left that to Ward, but he kept on repeating this for rounds, it was like he was Teddy Atlas there without any expertise from a tactical-technical standpoint. Then he is making comments about Valdez as far as what he needs to do to en-devour himself to the fans.

Max is jack of all trades yet master of none and that's the biggest issue I have with him. He tries to be all the roles and he's not very good at either and he takes himself too seriously.

PS: when guys like him and Harold Ledderman start making comments like "why is he going to his right against a southpaw, he should be going to his left to avoid the left hand" I just cringe. Roy Jones, Floyd Mayweather, Tito back in the day, they all did go right against southpaws, but like I said these ******s have heard something from somebody and now they keep on repeating it as if it's always true and they got so much knowledge. Just stfu and adhere to your role within the broadcast.

I don't mind Kellerman's commentary, it's his post fight interviews I don't like. He is too tame and too schooled and too safe. He hardly ever asks the tough questions...apart from the classic, "will you fight GGG?" LOL

Merchant was a far superior interviewer.

Max has his moments .... There are times where he's possibly the most smug dude on TV, then there are others where he stays within himself and that is when he's OK to listen to.

I lost all respect for Lampley and Kellerman when it was reported they were under contract with Mayweather Promotions for the Pacquiao fight. That to me showed they are sell outs and have no integrity. They made floyd look like he won when the majority of people saw Pac win, including MAJOR sites who rescored for Pac as well.
