Comments Thread For: Lomachenko's Manager: Let's See is Lee Selby Steps Up

Egis Klimas, manager of WBO featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko (4-1, 2KOs) of Ukraine, is looking at two potential opponents for his fighter's next return - which is being discussed for a November date in Dubai.

One of the opponents in the mix is former champion Simpiwe Vetyeka (27-3, 16KOs) of South Africa. He lost a technical decision to Nonito Donaire last year and bounced back in December with a twelve round decision victory over Arturo Reyes.

It'll probably end up being Vetyeka, but would love it if it's Selby.

Selby won't be fighting any of the other champions for a good while.

He wants a money fight with Josh Warrington next year.

Why is this a money fight?

Because Warrington has a huge following in Leeds, Selby's following should grow in Wales now that he's a world champion (and is sure to grow after one or two impressive defences) and, most vitally, because Eddie Hearn and Sky Sports will flog it relentlessly, like they're selling a used car. Not hard to imagine Selby-Warrington in a big showdown fight next year, maybe as part of a bumper pay-per-view card.

Loma vs Selby Unification..can it be made? Yes. Will it get made? No.

Realistically, Bobs not gonna make that fight. He has a knack for not delivering fights at the best possible time, for whatever reason...most likely let this fight "marinate".

Vetyeka is a good fight though, no complaints. He deserves anothrr title shot, coming off a good win..my only gripe is how dirty Bob did him against Donaire, that outcome should have been a No Contest, why risk that again? Im not implying that Loma needs that kind of "help" to win, hes actually very talented on his own, but Bob will be Bob.

Warrington, for some reason, has a massive following and he's barely even a Euro level fighter. He's pretty **** in all honesty but he draws crowds of fans. Mostly fans of the Leeds United football team who are frankly embarrassing. Still, they'll probably pack out Ellland Road which holds about 40k people.

They'll disappear when Selby beats the piss out of Warrington, thank god.

I think Bob would let it happen. The only fights he likes to marinate are from his own stable. Selby is not his fighter, I'm confident Arum would let Loma get Selby on his resume. Selby was the one that didn't seem to keen on facing Loma right now. He said he wants to defend his titles a few times first, I personally think that fight will never happen. Loma will not sit and wait for Selby imo. I don't think for one second that Selby is afraid of Loma, but he probably knows it's a fight he could very well lose and that could stop big domestic fights, for example. That's one of the problems with boxing and fans, once you lose you're considered a bum and everyone turns on you. Selby is probably worried that might happen, one second he's on top of the world the next everyone will be calling him a bum. It's shame that's why big fights don't happen sometimes, at least in my opinion.

I don't mind Vetyeka, but if Arum is going to keep making Loma fight guys like Rodriguez or even Vetyeka, he should at least be fighting three times a year not twice.

I need to read this sort of honesty, but Selby is not a favorite I see. Just the same I get a feel for the atmosphere and locals by your round about discriptions. In El Paso they are likely to start shooting guns at the roof, but everybody gets scanned or searched at the door.

Wait wait! Hold the **** up!

So he's willing to fight Vetyeka but not Walters? Loma's fans said fighting Walters wasn't worth it cause there was no belt around Walters' waist. Will they defend a fight vs Vetyeka? Cause I'll guarantee thats the one that will be made.

This kid has 5 fights under his belt and is already ducking.
