A boxer gets mentioned by boxing announcers? Wow....you're clever!

The average person on the street doesn't have a clue who Gennady Golovkin is.

DeGale is a world champion now. Just last week, they were asking Golovkin's manager about him and they poured cold water on the fight.

Kevin Mitchell is a bigger name than Gennady Golovkin here.

      .....why?

HBO will pay handily for that fight and it will still draw good PPV across the pond in the UK.

Even if DeGale did slightly better PPV, (not a given) it still won't make it a more lucrative fight for Froch.
Haha you think HBO are going to offer Froch 8-10 million with no PPV?

Wait a minute....now DeGale has to make an offer too?

Loeffler would stop a woman in the middle of a ******* to rebuttal something by Froch about a catchweight but he can't make an offer to Lara or DeGale?

DeGale doesn't even get mentioned by boxing announcers here and would get offered peanuts if he were to fight here. GGG brings more money, period.

          Point taken I hope.

            Yup.........

GGG does GREAT ratings fighting these B level guys on HBO. Not good, but GREAT. It's well documented.

If he were to face an established name like Froch in an intriguing fight like that, HBO will pay very well for it.

I guess Froch think he has max one fight left and dosent want to go out on a loss... It would be less annoying if he just said he wanted an easy farewell fight..
He's been saying that for over a year when he first talked about fighting Chavez Jr. in Vegas. That would have been an easy fight for him but when Chavez was dismantled by Fonfara, chances of that being an easy money PPV fight to go out on totally evaporated. I think he started talking about GGG just to keep his name in the media and never intended to fight him. Once he saw DeGale's shabby performance against Dirrell, he may have found the easy final fight he had been looking for and was only waiting to see if fans and media would pick up on it.

Now that they have, he has his low risk decent payday last fight ready for the taking. Assuming that DeGale is interested, of course.

The budget for GGG fights presently is about 1.5m. For a big fight HBO would up it, but they just don't go beyond 3m under their present budget. I don't see how 3m will do for that fight. If GGG is making the offer, Degale would be VERY lucky to get 50/50 since GGG is a much better draw in the US, plus making the weight concession. You think Degale would go for that? Now if he's got serious UK money behind him, lets see an offer.

Hope he gets on with it then and stops talking about Golovkin. I enjoy Froch fights no matter who he fights but its anoying when he talks about a possible Golovkin fight, which would be great, but dosent seem to have any real interest in making it happen.

You gotta understand, Hbos budget caps at about 3m per fight, on US soil. Anything beyond that, and it better be a ppv. For overseas fights I doubt theyd pay 1m, maybe for a huge one like GGG vs Froch. That fightd mostly be financed by UK ppv and gate.

What did DeGale get for the Dirrell fight? $1.5 million if I remember correctly because it went to purse bid which was won by one of Haymon's puppet promoters, Warrior Sports. And Matchroom only bid $2.1 million. So I could not see DeGale accepting a GGG fight for any less than that which means either PPV, which this fight would not be in the US, or a UK fight backed by UK money. But I doubt Matchroom would make an offer much higher than they did in the bid.

I can't see a DeGale - Golovkin fight in the cards anytime soon, unless the winner had a contract to fight Froch in the deal. But for DeGale that would not be necessary because he could probably get a Froch fight without having to go through GGG with all the danger that would bring with it.
