Comments Thread For: Chavez Jr. Had Retirement Thoughts Over Golovkin Fallout

Last year, former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. (48-2-1, 32KOs) says he was looking forward to a possible fight with Gennady "GGG" Golovkin.

The match didn't happen when Chavez couldn't reach an agreement with his promoter Top Rank. He claimed that he only owed them a single fight and had no options - but the promotional company felt otherwise.

TR was not looking for a five fight extension...it was a one fight extension...the Golovkin fight plus another fight for a total of 12Million for Chavez jr. He backed out because he knew he was going to get destroyed and Al didn't want him to come over as damaged goods.

Lol. Chavez jr is full of it. The deal presented by top rank was for a 1 fight extension. Arum was offering Jr 7mil for the GGG fight. The deal was that he would pay Jr 10mil for his next fight had he won and 5 mil had he lost.

How much did Chavez make to get battered by fonfara?

I read Chavez Jr. posted pictures of his checks received for the Fonfara fight and those checks are being used against Haymon in Top Rank's lawsuit because one of the checks was written through Haymon's business. Which breaks the Ali Act of separation of manager and promoter.
