How good would Adrien Broner be if...

Wth is this? You can say the same thing about any fighter.
What if Khan had a Hagler's chin and Mayweather's defense?Comment

But he did , just isn't very good at it
It's not his style as much as he doesn't prepare like a professional it's really that simpleComment

You are saying how good would Broner be if he was a completely different fighter? But he is Broner and what you see is what you get. He is 25 years old and he has been a boxer for many years and he has a trainer to try and correct his mistakes. It's very unlikely Broner will change much or get much better. Broner really hates to take punishment and Maidana and Porter made him more gun shy than ever.Comment

I don't understand why broner fans can't accept the fact that he's just not very good. He feasted on smaller guys for years and showed his limitations in fights with guy's like ponce. Move on already, there's much better guys with more potential.Comment

He doesn't choose not to let his hands go, he is incapable of figuring out opponents well enough to feel comfortable letting his hands go. He's easily confused and that keeps him from throwing.
If he just started winging combinations, he'd miss a ton, tire out, and be no better.Agreed. Broner is just a limited fighter who only looked dominant when he had a significant size advantage. He doesn't have the endurance the throw many punches. Doesn't have the chin to take many punches. Doesn't have the power unless he's fighting midgets.
He was outboxed by Ponce De Leon, who came up in weight to fight him. So what's he supposed to do? Acting like a fool and attracting Floyd groupies has been the best thing for his career. Imagine if he had to actually garner acclaim through his skills.Comment

He stopped trying to fight like Floyd? If he let his hands go and threw combinations? If he used good footwork and head movement instead of his Care Bear defense.
He has the build and speed to fight with more of a Hagler-type of style, but the kid has deluded himself into thinking he's some kind of Floyd-lite.
Floyd-lite indeed ...
Broner's problem is that he has gotten by for so long just countering opponents for the win and as a consequence, is unable to pull the trigger offensively.
I agree with your first point, that he has to forget what he's been doing up to this point and learn another method of fighting. He will always have his former style to fall-back on when necessary, but he needs to urgently adopt an aggressive style that emphasizes the jab. And use that jab as a pivot to introduce other weapons that he is already very capable of delivering.
I could go further and more in-depth .... but we are talking about Broner after all, and he seems to be stuck on ****** at present.Comment
