As long as both men come in at their natural fighting weight, it should be a good fight. WAR ALVAREZ!!

he has the right for a title shot, not a cotto shot, cotto can vacate tomorrow and ggg goes and fights heiland or tureano for that title... i highly doubt a title is going to stop this fight from happening... sulaiman will make cotto emeritus champion and put the 154lbs title on the line if necessary just to get the sanctioning fees from that fight... sad but true...

thats always been my assumption especially bc canelo is the no1 contender for the 154 wbc title. lets wait and se if floyd vacates the wbo on friday or chooses to keep it giving up his 154 titles. get ready for ggg vs johnson or heiland....shoulda put pressure on the wbc K2 smh

Great fight for the fans....I just hope Cotto doesn't end up looking like the toxic avenger after this fight like he did after he fought Margarito and Pac!!

It's funny because Canelo said he wanted to stay at 154 lbs for a while, but now he demands 1 pound more than the champ for the MW title. Is this a clue he'll move forward and face Golovkin?

Please tell me how GGG will get screwed?

The title should not keep the fight from happening which is exactly why Cotto should simply vacate it. If he does not vacate it and WBC try not to strip him, it may very well prevent the fight from happening as Golovkin will get an injunction in court to stop it. WBC lost in the past and will not risk losing in court again just when they are trying to make boxing look better to casuals.

By the way... if Cotto does vacate or if he is stripped, Golovkin becomes champion due to holding the interim title. He does not need to fight anyone else for it.
