... If Floyd somehow held a MW belt he would have also defended it against Maidana, right?
You are allowed to make any sarcastic comment you want but that doesn't change the fact that Floyd did defend the 154lb titles against Maidana.

Was it BS-of course. Has Floyd been allowed to hold the belts in a way others wouldn't-absolutely. Is that fair-no.

But he did defend the belt, so anyone saying he didn't is flat out wrong.

You are entitled to your opinion, so long as you acknowledge he did defend the 154lb titles, which some posters seem to think he did not.

          Not sarcastic... only joking...
I was following this very issue during the week prior to the Maidana II fight, but there was no news about Floyd defending his 154 belts against the Argentinian... Or maybe I wasn't very attentive...

See my response to MDPopescu. It is an absolute BS joke and not fair, but a defense nonetheless.

that alone is the reason many of us think he shouldnt have the 154 titles anymore... after 2 years one defense vs maidana at 147 is not acceptable...

September 9th, 2014... "Unbeaten boxing superstar Floyd Mayweather Jr (46-0, 26 KOs) will have his WBA/WBC 147 welterweight titles up for grabs for his fight this Saturday against Marcos Maidana (35-4, 31 KOs), but not his WBA/WBC junior middleweight titles, according to Fighthype.com.

There was talk of Mawyeather having both his 147 and 154 pound titles on the line for the Maidana fight so that all the titles could be defended at the same time, but Mayweather didn’t like the idea of defending his 154 pound titles in that manner."

I understand that point and am not dis*****g it in any way. It is patently unfair that he is allowed to keep the belts and not defend them. The WBA and WBC need to be taken to task for it.

I guess I was wrong. I thought Ellerbee confirmed the 154 titles were on the line as well.
