  • Comments Thread For: Hearn: Joshua-Wach Possible For 9/12, Not Done Yet

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom Sport is looking to book a big fight for Olympic gold medal winner Anthony Joshua (13-0, 13 KOs) on September 12th at the O2 Arena in London.

Last week, BoxingScene.com reported that former world title challenger Mariusz Wach (31-1, 17 KOs) was being considered for the slot. Wach's promoter had claimed to have an agreement in place for the contest.

Hearn reveals that Wach is indeed one of the fighters being considered, but a deal has yet to be reached.

Better fights to be made out there. Whyte, Price, Lucas Browne, Tony Thompson, Arreola, Perez....Let's face it, Wach is a bum; he isn't even in the top 15 with any governing body.

Out of those, Whyte and Browne are untested. The rest Joshua could get out in a couple of rounds.

Wach has a great chin. After the Johnson fight they probably want to get at least 6 rounds, which Wach should give

I think we'll find only those round the world title scene are gonna have anything to trouble Joshua.

I mean we know we ain't dealing with a David Price case where he'd been chinny in the amateurs, so when Joshua gets his chin check, I expect him to hold up okay.

Been working on that Tyson neck anyway in the gym.

Wach would be perfect. A big, strong and durable guy. Limited, yes. But not a has been like Johnson who had mentally checked out long ago. Wach will try to win. Wach is not top ten, but Joshua isn't quite ready for top ten guys just yet. But he will be in a couple of fights.
