Comments Thread For: Martin Murray Replaces Anthony Joshua on July 18 Bill

Martin Murray has been added to the bill at the Manchester Arena on July 18, live on Sky Sports as the St Helens man continues his assault on the Super Middleweight division.

Murray made his bow at the weight at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on Saturday, delivering a vicious body shot to kick off life at 168lbs with a second round KO win.

The three-time Middleweight World title challenger replaces Heavyweight Anthony Joshua who was originally set to appear on the bill but will now focus on a major title bout on September 12 at The O2 in London.

That's great to see Murray stay so active and rebuild himself, it's a like a second career for him under Hearn.

Eddie keeping him active home...let's see if he matches him with Smith or Fielding... I bet he gets Rebrasse or something afterwards

Murray was way under-rated at MW. I didn't see Quillen, Lee, Saunders, Jacobs calling him out. He was a very big middleweight. He said he had no power at MW but will more at SMW - that's intriguing; shall be watching him with interest especially if he lands against Grove, Smith or DeGale.

Him not being allowed entry into America was probably a big reason he didn't get as many offers.

Murray is **** average. He's not beating any top SMWs unless it's maybe Arthur Abraham where he'd have to travel again anyway and wouldn't get the decision.

Hearn will probably try to "Frankie Gavin" him into a shot at DeGale and he'll get completely outclassed before dropping back to middleweight.

Totally underrating Murray you are. I think he's going to get the belt at SMW. I'd favor him against many of the champions.

                Which belt?
Which champion do you think he beats?

Also.. won't be surprised if he fights Degale or something in the fantastic Hearn buildup to the rematch of the century

Richard Schaeffer actually made an offer to Hatton for Quillin to travel over to the UK and fight Murray. Team Hatton declined for whatever reason.

I like Murray but I get the feeling he'll be a nearly man at SMW too.
