All Ward fans think GGG sucks.

Therefore, beating a smaller guy "who hasn't fought anyone" would NOT improve Ward's legacy.

Yes, IF Ward were to defeat Kovalev at 175, it will improve his status. Just as it would improve my status, or yours, or anyone's. Operative word being "if."

He would have to beat GGG at a catchweight or 168 and beat kovalev and pascal and stevenson.

But he wont fight kovalev ,he is avoiding kovalev and big money fights at 175
by fighting d class fighters (smith) in oakland as usual. Guy wont challenge himself.

I say Ward and GGG meet at a catchweight of 165. I give Ward the extra pound because he would be sacrificing the most between the two.

He's the one losing weight, plus if GGG wins, he can campaign permanently at 168. In the reverse, if Ward wins, he wouldn't permanently or temporarily move down to 160.
nah. immediately what would happen is to scrutinize both of those mens resume and that wouldn't be hard at all.

"the guy beat a 50 year old legend!"

Golovkin has never requested a catchweight and has made it clear that he would not request a catchweight as a matter of respect. Ward would have to beat both Golovkin and Kovalev by KO or TKO for it to make a difference and he would have to fight both of them away from Oakland. That would make him a first ballot HOFer in my book but not put him on any ATG list. For that, he would have to unify all the titles at SMW along with the above wins.

Chances of that happening? ZERO. I think that whoever he fights first, whether GGG or Kovalev, takes him out and that ends that.

It would be an excellent achievement no doubt.

Yes he would. He won't beat either of them though in my opinion. They have too much skill and power and they will only fight him on neutral ground, not in Oakland or nearby. GGG will go up to 168 to fight him but Kovalev can't go an ounce under 175 so Ward would have to go up to 175 for Kovalev or no fight. In my opinion both of them would KO Ward. If he fought and beat these monsters on top of the undefeated record he has now I would consider him an all time great and I think many others would too.

Beating Froch and Kessler when he did were better wins.

Kessler: Favored to win the whole Super 6, obviously also favored to beat Ward. Favored to beat Froch, which he did, favored to beat Abraham, Taylor, which let's face it, he would have beaten them.

Froch: Probably a HOF SMW in the very least.

Kovalev would be a great win though. GGG, I just want to see Golovkin get beat and look lost.
