Comments Thread For: Hearn: Smith is One Fight Way From Jack-Groves Winner

Callum Smith landed the WBC Silver Super Middleweight title with a wide points win over gutsy Frenchman Christopher Rebrasse at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on Friday night, live on Sky Sports.

It was set to be a coming-of-age fight for the talented home fighters against the former European champion who had taken George Groves a tough 12 rounds for the same belt in September in London.

Why doesn't the WBC order Gilberto Ramirez/Callum Smith so the winner is the mandatory to the belt?

Because that makes too much sense for the WBC.

Not sure who i would favour in that one.

hearn needs to stop pandering to joe gallagher. No way is rebrasse anywhere near top 15, it just goes to show that joe gallagher talks absolute shi.t , if callum smith was in with degale, or groves he'd get trounced, theyd whipe the floor with him. He got exposed, I could beat rebrasse, pay me 20k he wouldnt knock me out give me free gym membership and Id beat him. These guys full of ****.

joe gallagher can have a fighter from when theyre amatuer and still not develop them, Im quite sure he had murray all the way through and he got nowhere, he's saying if he had paul smith from the start he would have been world champion. lol.

Why are you so confident Groves would beat him considering he struggled with Rebrasse more than Smith did? Degale would be favourite but i'm still unsure on his fitness.

Why do people have a misconception that Groves struggled? He won 118-110 and it was no harder than it was for Callum Smith. My money is on Groves beating Smith too. The more experienced fighter who has faced arguably the best middleweight in the world twice (and he was winning on both occasions).

It's no misconception Groves did struggle, not to the extent sky would make out but it certainly wasn't an easy nights worth. I feel Smith handled him better personally. And I think it's a good fight but would favour Smith with his body shots, considering how they were so decisive for Froch in their second fight. Don't think Groves has the stamina personally.
