Why is BoxingScene reporting on this Berto ****, when they should be reporting this:
Gennady Golovkin, a career middleweight, is reported to have already begun training to cut down to 154lbs just in case Floyd Mayweather decides to call his name for his September bout. His trainer, Abel Sanchez, has reportedly told WBN that Golovkin can safely make the weight if he's given enough time to prepare. So looking towards the fight he's been craving, Gennady appears to be preparing for the "just in case" scenario of a Mayweather fight. He might just be spinning his wheels here, but you can't fault the guy for trying.
It's probably a long shot for Gennady to land this fight (and the proposed Froch fight fizzled after Carl went silent on negotiations) but Gennady is said to have even accepted a proposed rehydration clause mentioned by Mayweather Sr. just to make the Mayweather fight happen.

Showtime All Access episode 1 would be like:
Narrator: It all started with a phone call to ex-welterweight champion Andre Berto, *hello* said Berto but heard only some one else breathing on the other end. *this is definitely Mayweather punking me* thought Berto.

.cut to the chase Floyd V Berto got made.Comment

I'm a fan of Floyd and will miss watching him fight. But I'll be happy when he retires and hopefully boxing will return to some sort of normalcy. Dude generates so much money that none of the top guys from like 140-160 wanna fight anyone dangerous, angling for a Floyd fight. And guys fighting in divisions Floyd isn't relevant in are demanding outragous amounts of money to fight other top guys, because they see the purses Floyd is generating. Not to mention ridiculous stories like this. Which are 100% guys angling for a Floyd fight.
I thought about it today. Before all the Floyd-Pac nonsense started. I was ordering 5+ quality PPV fights a year. Now, I may go a full year ordering none. Not that I enjoy paying for PPV. But it definitely points to the lack of quality matchups happening nowadays.Comment

This is the exact nonsense I was talking about. This guy has no desire to move up for a career defining fight with Ward. But he's willing to wreck his body for a Floyd fight. Or at worst overtrain for his next fight just in case Floyd fights him. Fortunately for him, he'll have his ballz massaged fir fighting a bum. So overtrained or not, he should be fine. But it just points to how ****** the Floyd lottery ticket is making people. Why is BoxingScene reporting on this Berto ****, when they should be reporting this:
